This restaurant serves classic Danish smørrebrød (open sandwiches) for lunch every day, in a high cellar near Nyhavn in Copenhagen. It opened in 2000 and has white tablecloths, high wall panels and well-known Danish faces on the walls. Everything is made from scratch, mostly with organic produce, including pickled herring, prawn sandwich with homemade mayonnaise and pan-fried steak with horseradish. Over 20 house snaps (schnapps), made from an organic base spirit, change with the season.
Tables can be booked, and bills are not split for groups of more than six. A julefrokost (Christmas lunch) can be pre-ordered by email, but not as vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian. You can pay by card and mobile. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible.
