This association brings together free and private primary schools and upper secondary institutions across Denmark and represents their interests towards the Danish parliament (the Folketing) and the Ministry of Children and Education. Its secretariat in Copenhagen advises on legal, financial, management and teaching matters, and it offers guidance on setting up a new free or private school.
The association runs an extensive course programme for school management and boards, publishes a newsletter eight times a year and holds its annual general meeting in late October. Member schools get help with collective agreements, employment terms, subsidies, insurance and accounting, and there is a shared substitute fund and a free-place fund.
