This restaurant in Tivoli in Copenhagen traces its roots to Teater Caféen, which opened in 1874 next to the Pantomime Theatre. The two original rooms survive, with the pantomime actors' makeup mirrors and old photographs. Balloon pilot Johansen took over in 1900 and put skipperlabskovs, a traditional Danish stew, on the menu, where it is still served. There are also smørrebrød (open sandwiches), a theatre platter and shrimp cocktail, and menus follow the seasons.
Tables can be booked online or by phone. There is a children's menu, vegetarian dishes and outdoor seating, and gift vouchers are sold. The entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
