This cellar restaurant has served traditional smørrebrød, Danish open sandwiches, and hot lunches since 1910. It is in a building from 1797 with vaulted cellar rooms, close to Christiansborg Palace. The Kik family took over in 1910, and the cellar once held a small aquavit distillery. Guests choose their smørrebrød at a long buffet counter, and the menu has herring, fish and shellfish, cold cuts, hot dishes such as hakkebøf (minced beef patty) and plaice, and desserts. House-made snaps is also mentioned.
The restaurant is open every day 10 am to 5 pm, with the kitchen open 11 am to 3 pm. Tables can be booked online, and it suits groups. Payment by card and mobile is accepted. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible, and dogs are not allowed.
