This grain windmill was built in 1820 in the northern part of Odense, in a garden with old apple trees. The miller Rasmus Pedersen won royal permission after a long dispute with neighbouring mill owners, and in 1823 he was allowed to grind coarse flour. A stone plate over the entrance is dated 1820. Today it is a working mill that shows its old craft at many events. Odense Municipality has owned it since 1990, and the association Lumby Møllegaard looks after restoration and maintenance.
Every year there is Sommermusik in the mill garden, with draught beer, møllekringle (a Danish pastry) and coffee, and a Møllemarked on Dansk Mølledag with crafts, folk music and guided tours of the mill.
