This restaurant in central Odense is close to the H.C. Andersen House, Odeon and the concert hall and serves traditional Danish food. An inn has stood on the plot since 1761, and the present building was restored in 1990. It was called Hyldemor from 1905 to 1959, after an H.C. Andersen fairy tale. On the square, the ground plan of the old monastery is marked with brass studs, and Odense's first theatre stood here, where H.C. Andersen made his stage debut in 1812.
Lunch and dinner are served, along with a julefrokost, the traditional Christmas lunch, and private parties, and tables can be booked online. It is child-friendly with a children's menu and has outdoor seating. The entrance and parking are not wheelchair accessible. Dogs are not allowed.
