This is a Danish organisation that aims to fight poverty, insist on equal opportunities, strengthen communities and bring about lasting social change. It works both in Denmark and internationally and traces its roots back to 1907. It has a samaritan and social emergency preparedness area, runs recycling and each year gives the awards Årets Folkehjælper and Årets Frivillig.
You can become a member, volunteer or donate. Volunteers run activities such as holiday camps for children from families in need. There are first-aid courses, instructor training, heart-runner courses and first-aid courses for companies and organisations. Every year there is Christmas aid for families with children in Denmark, with applications due by a set date in November.
