This cross-trade membership organisation for self-employed craftspeople and owner-managers in the classic trades in the Copenhagen region was founded in 1840. It has about 2,000 members and 30 affiliated guilds and trade associations. Its headquarters is Moltkes Palæ in Copenhagen, which it has owned since 1930; the palace was completed in 1702.
Every year silver and bronze medals go to the most skilled newly qualified craftspeople, a tradition since 1867. Members get a network, monthly events and the magazine MESTER. The entrance, parking, seating and toilet are not wheelchair accessible.
