This is a gathering place on the Aarhus Å river in central Aarhus, where cafés, bars and nightclubs sit side by side along the water. The cafés have outdoor seating with terrace heaters and blankets, so the area is used in winter as well as summer. In the evening it is a centre of nightlife, with dancing, music and cocktails.
It is a historic meeting place, said to predate the founding of Aarhus in the 700s. It gave its name to the street Immervad and, reportedly, to the town's original name, Aros. Admission is free.
