This restaurant is in the Den Gamle By open-air museum in Aarhus and serves traditional Danish food, with a wide choice of hot and cold lunch dishes and smørrebrød (Danish open sandwiches) based on historical cookbooks. Dishes include stjerneskud and frikadeller (Danish meatballs) from a recipe in a 1901 cookbook. You can sit in the old rooms, in a more modern fireplace room or in the sunny courtyard garden by the animal enclosure.
The menu has several vegetarian dishes, and allergies and intolerances are taken into account. There is a children's menu and a take-home lunch box for children. Tables can be booked, and groups of nine or more reserve by e-mail. The bill cannot be split. The entrance, seating and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
