This Copenhagen association is a philanthropic organisation with about 195,000 members. Anyone who owns property in Denmark can join, and membership is free. It was founded in 2000 when RealDanmark sold its mortgage and banking activities, and it is neither a bank nor a mortgage lender. Grants are paid from the return on its capital.
It supports projects in the built environment: housing, public spaces, parks, cultural heritage, urban development and sustainability. Since 2000 it has backed over 5,000 projects. Grants are applied for via the website, and partnerships with municipalities, associations and foundations are emphasised. The entrance and toilet are wheelchair accessible.
