The association was founded in 1889 and traces back to the trade guild Odense Tømrerlaug of 1752. It began as a sickness insurance, funeral aid and widows' pension fund and has become a professional and social association. Members are master carpenters who work to a high standard, and membership requires membership of Dansk Byggeri. They are covered by the BYG guarantee.
The association shares an office with Odense Murerlaug and Haandværker- og Industriforeningen i Odense. An active senior club meets weekly, and annual events include a winter party, a summer party and a cod feast with the mayor. The first-floor office is open Monday to Thursday, 9-11.
