This is a historical herb garden in the grounds of St Canute's Church and Monastery in Odense. It is the only remaining medicinal herb garden of the medieval town's six monasteries. The garden was laid out after a fire in 1913, planned by garden architect J.P. Andersen, and opened to the public in June 1922. It was last renovated in 2005 to a design by landscape architect Lise Schou.
The garden has 20 beds with 127 plants, including perennials, annuals and biennials. Signs explain each plant's use, historical significance or superstition. Admission is free, it is open all day, and dogs are allowed. The entrance is through an old black wrought-iron gate just below the cathedral.
