This Renaissance castle in Helsingør is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known as Elsinore in Shakespeare's Hamlet and for the legend of Holger Danske in the casemates. It is part of the National Museum of Denmark. There are historic rooms, casemates, cannons and a cannon tower with views over the Øresund.
Tours include the underground casemates, a tour in English and a short introduction lasting a quarter of an hour. Families can use activity stations and a craft workshop. Café Sundtolden serves drinks, snacks and pastries. The train from Copenhagen Central Station takes about 46 minutes, followed by a ten-minute walk along the harbour. The entrance and parking are wheelchair accessible.
