This private association runs summer camps for Copenhagen schoolchildren, mostly stays of one or two weeks. It owns 29 colonies across Denmark, many in natural surroundings, and was founded by Copenhagen teachers from 1899. The first colony was at Næs near Assens in 1907, and more than 300,000 children have attended. There are school colonies and theme colonies, and a summer colony normally has four educational staff for about 40 children.
The colonies are also rented out for school camps, cabin trips, weekend trips, team building and private purposes, mostly from March to October. New customers must book by phone, and a booking fee is paid when booking. Online booking is only for former and current customers.
