This historic brown pub in Copenhagen has occupied the building since 1940, and the area was known in the Middle Ages as the city's notorious inn and prostitution quarter. It serves draught beer and absinthe in a glass fountain on a silver foot while staff tell the history of the place, and the bar plays jazz versions of Danish music. During the Occupation it played a central role in the liquidation of the informer Rudolf Christensen, known as Hestetyven, and traces of the resistance's machine guns are said to remain.
