🎫When and how the “hotel + Tivoli” and “Copenhagen Card” packages are worth it

People come to Copenhagen for Tivoli, museums, canals and restaurants, but the budget is best calculated as a whole, not just “per night”. The “hotel + Tivoli” packages and the Copenhagen Card often solve logistical pain points and deliver noticeable savings, especially on short 3–5-day visits in shoulder seasons (spring/autumn) and in winter under the Christmas lights. The key is choosing the right dates, inclusions and avoiding paying for extras you won’t use.

🎡 What “hotel + Tivoli” is and what it includes

There are two popular formats from the Arp-Hansen group / hotels near the park:

A Day in Tivoli: accommodation + breakfast + Tivoli entry (without Ride Pass). Best for those who don’t plan to spend the whole day on rides but come for the atmosphere, concerts and evening lights.

Tivoli Hotel All Inclusive (especially good for families): accommodation + breakfast + Tivoli entry + unlimited Ride Pass + dinner at one of the partner venues + unlimited ride photos; sometimes extras depend on the season (e.g. Villa Vendetta in summer/Christmas). This is an all-in-one option, convenient when you want a full day in the park without counting each add-on.

When to choose it:
🧒 Families (2+1, 2+2) in summer / Halloween / Christmas: you’ll pay for entry + rides + dinner anyway, and the package is often cheaper than buying separately.
👩‍❤️‍👨 Couples in shoulder seasons (April–May, September–November, weekdays): a package with dinner and a Ride Pass is a pleasant bundled experience with no extra sums to run.
💡 Tivoli seasons: the park operates in summer, Halloween and Christmas (exact windows published by Tivoli/VisitCopenhagen).
⚠️ Tivoli’s own “entry + ride pass” tickets have dynamic pricing (cheaper/more expensive depending on date), so an all-in-one hotel package helps you lock in a final price for your stay.

🗺️ What Copenhagen Card is and why it matters
Two current versions:

Copenhagen Card – Discover: 80+ attractions + unlimited public transport in the region (metro/trains/buses, including the airport). Valid for 24/48/72/96/120 hours.

Copenhagen Card – Hop: 40+ attractions in the city centre + Stromma Hop-On Hop-Off buses (without public transport).

Children: One adult may bring up to two children aged 3–11 for free (remember to add free KIDS cards when buying). Ages 12–15 use the JUNIOR tariff.

ShoulderSeason AutumnSpring

Price guide (DISCOVER, as of November 2025):

Hours Adult Junior (12–15)
24 559 DKK 379 DKK
48 819 DKK 489 DKK
72 989 DKK 559 DKK
96 1 159 DKK 649 DKK
120 1 339 DKK

Important: admission to Tivoli Gardens is included (one visit per card), rides are paid separately (Ride Pass/tickets on site).

🔎 When the cards and bundles actually save money

The Copenhagen Card (72 h) pays off if, over 3 days, you plan for 3–4 paid activities per day (for example: Tivoli entrance, Glyptotek, Rosenborg, Christiansborg, canal tour), plus transport (airport ↔ city center and metro within the city). According to the operator, guests save on average ~30%, but your own prices and plans determine everything.

A Day in Tivoli is a good deal on days when admission is more expensive (evenings/peak), but rides are not a priority. You get “park + city center” and breakfasts.

Tivoli All Inclusive beats DIY when a family will definitely spend the whole day on rides and have dinner on-site or nearby. The full bundle is already included.

🏛️ Paid places (adult price, DKK)

Set attraction/transport prices to match your dates. The Card includes Tivoli entry (no rides) and transport (DISCOVER).

📌 Result

Assumptions: up to 2 children (3–11) are free per adult (others count as JUNIOR). Ages 12–15 = JUNIOR. Card prices as of 2025‑11.

😊 Tip: if you have 2 adults + 1–2 children (3–11) and three busy days, DISCOVER-72h almost always wins thanks to the included entrances and transport. If you only visit 2–3 places and mostly stroll around, the card may not pay off.

🍽️ Where things are “cheaper by season” and how to distribute activities across days

The “shoulder” months (April–May, September–October) and weekdays are the gentlest in terms of prices and queues. The card works best when you have 2–3 museums per day plus transport.

Christmas (mid-November to early January): Tivoli is a must-see; All Inclusive simplifies logistics (entrance + rides + dinner), especially with kids. The DISCOVER card during this period makes sense if you add museums or a canal tour during the daytime.

Summer (July–August): cards and bundles pay off if your schedule is tight; weekends are pricier and busier, so try Mon–Thu.

🧩 How not to overpay: quick rules

🗓️ Tivoli calendar: the park uses dynamic pricing by date. If you’re going on a day with a high rate, All Inclusive may give a better effective price (entrance + rides + dinner).
👶 With kids: Copenhagen Card has a strong feature — up to two children aged 3–11 per adult go free (at attractions and on transport with DISCOVER). For families staying 3–5 days, this often outweighs DIY.
🚇 DISCOVER vs HOP: if you need metro/trains (incl. airport), choose DISCOVER; HOP covers HOHO buses + 40+ central attractions (no regular public transport).
🎫 Tivoli in the card: entrance included (one visit), rides are separate. If you definitely need a Ride Pass + dinner, compare with All Inclusive.

🧾 Mini product profiles (short)

Copenhagen Card – Discover: 24–120 h, 80+ attractions, transport included, up to 2 kids 3–11 free per adult. Ideal for dense 3–5 day plans with museums and travel.
Copenhagen Card – Hop: 24–72 h, 40+ central attractions, HOHO buses, no regular public transport. Good for a “light” plan in the center when metro access isn't essential.
A Day in Tivoli: overnight + breakfast + entrance. Good if rides aren’t the focus and you want an “evening in Tivoli.”
Tivoli Hotel All Inclusive: overnight + breakfast + entrance + Ride Pass + dinner + photo etc. Maximum convenience for families in summer/Christmas/weekends.

❓FAQ

Is transport included in Copenhagen Card?

In DISCOVER — yes (metro/trains/buses in the region, incl. airport). In HOP — no, it includes Hop-On Hop-Off buses instead of regular public transport.

How many children can enter for free?

Up to two children aged 3–11 per adult (add free KIDS cards at checkout). Additional children need JUNIOR cards. Ages 12–15 are always JUNIOR.

Is Tivoli fully included in the card?

The card covers entrance (one visit per card). Rides and special events are paid separately or via a Ride Pass.

What’s cheaper: card or paying individually?

If you have a 3-day plan with 3–4 paid places per day + transport, DISCOVER-72h almost always wins. If your plan is “strolling/1–2 museums,” individual tickets may be cheaper. (Run it through the calculator.)

When does All Inclusive at Tivoli make sense?

When you’re definitely riding all day and dining on-site — the bundle locks in the price and simplifies the day (entrance + Ride Pass + dinner). On expensive dates the package is often better than DIY.

Which dates offer “soft prices”?

Weekdays and shoulder seasons (April–May, September–October). For Christmas, book early: the flow is high, but packages/cards help control the final cost.
