Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is an art museum on Dantes Plads, right next to Tivoli Gardens in central Copenhagen. It was founded by brewer and art patron Carl Jacobsen, who opened his private collection to the public at the end of the 19th century. The building complex combines historic wings, spacious sculpture halls and the famous Winter Garden with palm trees and a glass dome at its heart.
The collection comprises more than 10,000 works and archaeological objects covering some 6,000 years of art — from Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome to the Danish Golden Age and French art from 1800–1930. Visitors encounter marble statues, sarcophagi and Roman portraits alongside masterpieces by Rodin, Degas, Gauguin, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh and many others. A café overlooking the Winter Garden, a well-stocked museum shop and a roof terrace with views of the city towers round off the experience.
