Experimentarium is a large hands-on science centre in Hellerup, about 6 km north of central Copenhagen, set in a former industrial building by the Tuborg Harbour waterfront. Spread across several floors and atriums, it features the striking copper-clad helix staircase inspired by a DNA strand and has been praised as a world-class science attraction. The guiding idea is simple: you learn best when you move, play and experiment together.
Exhibitions invite you to get involved: the Labyrinth of Light with a laser harp, the Tunnel of Senses, galleries about the human body, water and global trade, a Miniverse area for toddlers and the popular Bubblearium full of soap-bubble experiments. Three indoor floors are complemented by an Interactive Rooftop with views over Øresund, and all exhibitions are explained in both Danish and English, making it easy for international visitors. Families typically spend several hours exploring, taking breaks in the on-site café and browsing the science-themed shop.
