Cookie Policy (Denmark) — GDPR and Consent

Effective date: 10 November 2025

This Cookie Policy explains how DenmarkGuide (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies in Denmark in line with the Danish Cookie Order and the EU GDPR.

1) What cookies are and why we use them

Cookies, SDKs, pixels and similar technologies help us run the site, keep it secure, measure use and—if you allow it—support advertising and conversion measurement.

  • Strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to work (e.g., login, security, remembering your cookie choices) and do not require consent.

Analytics (e.g., Google Analytics 4) and Marketing (e.g., Google Ads) are off by default and run only with your prior, informed consent.

2) Your choices & consent (first layer)

  • By default, only strictly necessary cookies are active.
  • On the first layer of our banner you can choose Accept all, Reject all, or Customize (granular per category).
  • We do not place analytics/marketing technologies until you consent, and we make it just as easy to reject as to accept.
  • You can withdraw consent at any time via Cookie Settings; withdrawal stops further use of non‑essential cookies.
  • We keep a record of your consent (timestamp, categories, version) to meet GDPR accountability requirements.

3) Categories, purposes & legal bases

Category Purpose Legal basis
Necessary Site operation, security, choices you requested (e.g., language), session management Not subject to the consent requirement under the Danish Cookie Order; subsequent processing under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR where relevant

4) Who sets cookies (providers)

  • First‑party (denmarkguide.com): session and security cookies, plus a cookie to remember your banner choices.

Third parties: Google LLC products such as Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads / DoubleClick / Google Ad Services / Google Syndication (enabled only if you consent). We do not use advertising networks other than Google.

5) Typical cookies & lifespans (examples, may vary)

A. Strictly necessary (always on)

  • session_id (denmarkguide.com) — maintains user session — Session — 1st party
  • csrftoken (denmarkguide.com) — protects forms (CSRF) — up to 1 year — 1st party
  • ng_cookie_consent (denmarkguide.com) — remembers your cookie choices — 6–12 months — 1st party

B. Analytics (only if you consent, Google Analytics 4)

  • _ga (denmarkguide.com) — visitor identifier for aggregate statistics — up to 2 years — 1st party
  • _ga_<ID> (denmarkguide.com) — resource/session measurement — up to 2 years — 1st party
GA4 event retention in reports is typically up to 14 months (depending on settings).

C. Marketing (only if you consent, Google Ads)

  • IDE, test_cookie (googleads.g.doubleclick.net) — ad delivery/fraud control — IDE up to 13 months / test_cookie ~15 minutes — 3rd party
  • _gcl_au, _gcl_aw (denmarkguide.com / googleadservices.com) — conversion measurement/attribution — up to 90 days — 1st/3rd party
  • Service cookies (pagead2.googlesyndication.com; google.com, e.g., NID, 1P_JAR) — load ad components — session–13 months — 3rd party

Note: Exact names and durations can differ by configuration and platform. The live list is shown in Cookie Settings.

6) Similar technologies & security logs

For security and diagnostics our hosting generates minimal technical logs (IP/time/URL/status code) retained up to 90 days. These are not cookies, but we disclose them for transparency.

7) International data transfers

Where using Google services results in processing outside the EEA (e.g., in the United States), we rely on valid transfer tools—such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework when the recipient is certified, and/or Standard Contractual Clauses with additional safeguards.

8) How long we remember your choices

There is no fixed legal expiry for cookie consent. We refresh your consent at reasonable intervals (typically within 12 months) and whenever we introduce new purposes or vendors.

9) How to change your settings

Use Cookie Settings at any time to accept/reject categories or withdraw consent. You can also delete cookies in your browser/device settings; doing so may remove your saved preferences.
